What is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is the time of year where you can select a new plan or renew your existing health coverage. Check out the important dates and information below to help you get started.
Huge savings on health coverage available!
You may be eligible to save on health coverage through HealthSource RI (HSRI) due to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Under the federal law, most HSRI customers may qualify for financial help to lower their monthly coverage cost – even those who weren’t eligible in the past. Additionally, customers who previously did not qualify to receive financial help may now qualify to receive financial help.
In 2022, over 30% of HealthSource RI customers paid less than $10 a month for their health coverage. HealthSource RI can also connect you to low- or no-cost coverage.
Due to the federal Inflation Reduction Act, eligible HSRI customers may continue to see lower monthly costs through at least 2025.
How to Enroll
HealthSource RI is here to help you choose a health plan that fits your needs and budget. There’s more than one way to sign up for coverage.

- Call 211 to make an appointment for 1-on-1 assistance with a Navigator near you. Click here to find a Navigator near you. Navigators are available throughout the state to help you with enrolling in a new plan or renewing your existing health coverage.
During Open Enrollment, our call center is available Monday – Friday 8am – 7pm and Saturdays 9am – 12pm. Our Enrollment Specialists are more than happy to help you enroll in coverage. PLEASE NOTE: HealthSource RI’s call center and live web chat will be closed on the following dates:
- Thursday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen on Friday, November 26.
- Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, December 27.
- Monday, January 2 2023 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

This is the last day of Open Enrollment, and the last day to complete enrollment for 2023 coverage. PLEASE NOTE: your coverage will be active February 2023.

What to Consider When Your Coverage Has Been Automatically Renewed
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 retains the savings and lower health coverage costs that most HealthSource RI (HSRI) customers began receiving in 2021. If you are a current HealthSource RI (HSRI) customer, you will receive a renewal packet that includes information about your 2023 coverage and what financial help may be available to receive for the upcoming plan year.
Even if your current health plan has been renewed for 2023, we still encourage you to consider all your plan options as premiums and assistance levels change each year. We can guide you through the renewal process, making sure you report your income correctly, and explaining any changes to the financial help you may be eligible to receive.
It’s important to stay covered so that you can avoid paying a penalty at tax time. Don’t delay — now is the time to visit to compare plans for 2022 and see how much you can save on your monthly premium and out-of-pocket costs.
Remember to Keep Your Account Information Up-to-Date
When your account information changes, it’s important to report it to HealthSource RI. Reporting changes to account information such as your family size and income ensures you are receiving the correct amount of financial help and can determine whether you qualify for no-cost coverage through Medicaid.
