Open Enrollment is the time of year where you can select a new plan or renew your existing health coverage. Check out the important dates and information below to help you get started.

Complete your enrollment to make sure your coverage is active January 1, 2022.

December 31, 2021
Complete your enrollment to make sure your coverage is active starting January 2022. Your health insurance ID cards may be delayed.

January 31, 2022
This is the last day of Open Enrollment, and the last day to complete enrollment for 2022 coverage. PLEASE NOTE: your coverage will be active February 2022.

Huge savings on health coverage available!

The federal COVID relief plan makes health coverage through HealthSource RI more affordable than ever. Even if you did not qualify before, you may now be eligible to receive financial help to lower your monthly coverage costs.

In 2021, over 40% of HealthSource RI customers paid less than $10 a month for their health coverage. HealthSource RI can also connect you to low- or no-cost coverage.

What’s New for 2022 Health Coverage

What to Consider When Your Coverage Has Been Automatically Renewed

Earlier in 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was signed into federal law and introduced significant changes to enrolling in health coverage. If you are a current HealthSource RI (HSRI) customer, you will receive a renewal packet that includes information about your 2022 coverage and what financial help may be available to lower their monthly coverage costs.

If your current health plan has been renewed for 2022, but you would like to consider a different plan, HealthSource RI can guide you through the renewal process, making sure you report your income correctly, and explaining any changes to the financial help you may be eligible to receive. It’s important to stay covered so that you can avoid paying a penalty at tax time. Don’t delay — compare all available 2022 health plans by December 23 to ensure you have coverage on January 1, 2022.

Important Changes for HSRI Customers Who Received Unemployment Income in 2021

Your 2022 health plan may have a different monthly premium and out-of-pocket costs. The federal financial assistance for HSRI customers who received unemployment benefits in 2021 will not be available in 2022. However, new and expanded financial help is available for most HSRI customers, even if they haven’t qualified in the past.

If you received unemployment income in 2021, now is the time to visit to compare plans for 2022 and see how much you can save on your monthly premium and out-of-pocket costs.

HSRI customers will receive a renewal packet via mail. Carefully review the packet and call us at 1-855-840-4774 if you need help selecting a different 2022 plan that best fits your needs and budget.

Remember to Keep Your Account Information Up-to-Date

When your account information changes, it’s important to report it to HealthSource RI. Reporting changes to account information such as your family size and income ensures you are receiving the correct amount of financial help and can determine whether you qualify for no-cost coverage through Medicaid. During Open Enrollment, our call center is available Monday – Friday 8am – 7pm and Saturdays 9am – 12pm. Our Enrollment Specialists are more than happy to help you enroll in coverage.

Contact Center Holiday Hours
During Open Enrollment, HealthSource RI’s call center and live web chat will be closed on the following dates:

  • Thursday, November 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen on Friday, November 26.
  • Friday, December 24 in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will reopen on Monday, December 27.
  • Monday, January 3 2022 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
